A visual book offering a comprehensive overview of the history of Louis Vuitton, the iconic French luxury fashion house. The book showcases the creative legacy of the Maison, tracing its evolution from its origins as a trunk-maker to the visionary contributions of the successive artistic directors who have shaped its identity. It is a substantial volume, measuring six centimeters in thickness. The text is in Japanese. This limited-edition book was originally sold exclusively at Louis Vuitton stores worldwide and on the brand's website, as well as at Assouline in France and select concept stores.

This exhibition catalog was published to coincide with the Louis Vuitton "Visionary Journeys" exhibition held at the Osaka Nakanoshima Museum of Art in 2025. The book traces the relationship between this world-renowned luxury fashion house and Japan, covering everything from its innovative trunks and the iconic Monogram pattern—said to be inspired by Japanese family crests—to the brand's influence on Japanese street style. In addition to collaborations with artists such as Takashi Murakami and Yayoi Kusama, the book spotlights groundbreaking collections by successive artistic directors who have consistently drawn inspiration from Japan, including Virgil Abloh, Nicolas Ghesquière, Marc Jacobs, Kim Jones, and Pharrell Williams. 東京都渋谷区代官山17番地にはかつて樹木と建物が自然に融合し、モダンでノスタルジックな空間を放つ同潤会アパートが存在した(現在は代官山アドレスが建つ)。当時取り壊しの期限が迫り、次々に立ち退いてゆく住民たちの中で、最後まで残っていた一軒のヘアサロン、そしてそこに集まる若者たち。ハービー・山口はこの場所に通い続け、その地で出会った人々を撮影し、また森高千里、福山雅治、瀬戸朝香などミュージシャンや俳優たちとも撮影を行った。人間の営みの匂いが残る貴重な空間の最後に写真家はカメラを持って立ち会っている。2018年に新版が出版されたが、本書は初版。おまけでプリント1枚付き。

At 17 Daikanyama, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, there used to be Dojunkai Apartments, where trees and buildings naturally blended together, giving off a modern and nostalgic space (currently where Daikanyama Address stands). At that time, the deadline for demolition was approaching, and as the residents moved out one by one, one hair salon was the last one left standing, and young people gathered there. Herbie Yamaguchi continued to visit this place, photographing the people he met there, as well as musicians and actors such as Chisato Moritaka, Masaharu Fukuyama, and Asaka Seto. The photographer is present with his camera at the end of a precious space that retains the scent of human activities. A new edition was published in 2018, but this is the first edition. 都築響一は1956年東京生まれ。1976年から86年まで雑誌ポパイ、ブルータスなどで現代美術、建築、デザイン、都市生活などの記事を主に担当する。1989年から92年にかけて、1980年代の世界の現代美術の動向を包括的に網羅した全102巻の現代美術全集「アート・ランダム」を刊行。以後様々な分野で執筆活動、編集などを続けている。本書は1990年代初頭の東京のリアルな部屋を集めた写真集。分厚いインテリア雑誌などに出てくるような綺麗で、スタイリッシュな日本の空間ではなく、リアルな日本人が実際に住む「トウキョウ・スタイル」がここにはある。炬燵の上にはリモコンがあって、座布団の横には本が積んである、この時代を生きていた人であればどこかしらに懐かしさを感じられるはず。ソフトカバー版。

Kyoichi Tsuzuki was born in Tokyo in 1956. From 1976 to 1986, he was mainly in charge of articles on contemporary art, architecture, design and urban life in magazines such as Popeye and Brutus. From 1989 to 1992, he published "Art Random", a complete collection of 102 volumes of contemporary art that comprehensively covers the trends of contemporary art in the world in the 1980s. He has been writing and editing in various fields since then. This book is a collection of realistic rooms in Tokyo in the early 1990s. Instead of the beautiful and stylish Japanese space that appears in thick interior magazines, there is a "Tokyo style" where real Japanese people actually live. This is a collection of works by "Invader," an elusive street artist known for creating pieces—inspired by characters from the arcade game *Space Invaders*—in cities across the globe, including Paris. This valuable volume documents the installations he created during two "invasions" of the northern Italian city of Ravenna in 2014 and 2015. Approximately 40 of his works remain in the city today. 『Remember Me Like This』でレイチェル・リウは、家族写真のアーカイブに立ち返り、記憶がどのように形づくられ、演出され、写真によって再創造されるのかを探っている。写真、オルタナティブ・プロセス、ミクストメディアを横断して制作する彼女は、2017年より家族写真を素材に、記憶と歴史、そして表象の境界を問い続けてきた。本作は1940年代から70年代にかけて中国で撮影された白黒の家族写真を元にしている。リウは選んだ写真を銀塩プリントとして焼き付け、インクやガッシュで一点ずつ手彩色を施す。点描のモチーフが顔を覆い、輪郭は和らぎ、表面にはささやかな揺らぎが生まれる。個人的な記録は、特定の人間性よりも形や身振りによって記憶されるイメージへと変容する。こうした介入を通して、作品は写真が意味を構築すると同時に秘匿もすること、そして「見ること」「見られること」への人間的な欲求を静かに浮かび上がらせる。本書は素材感に細やく配慮しながらシリーズを再現し、絵具と銀塩プリントのあいだに生まれる触覚的な緊張を読者に体験させる。

In *Remember Me Like This*, Rachel Liu revisits an archive of family photographs to explore how memory is shaped, staged, and recreated through the photographic image. Working across photography, alternative processes, and mixed media, she has—since 2017—used family snapshots as source material to interrogate the boundaries between memory, history, and representation. This body of work is based on black-and-white family photographs taken in China between the 1940s and the 1970s. Liu produces silver gelatin prints from her selected images and hand-colors each one individually using ink and gouache. Motifs of stippling obscure the faces, softening outlines and introducing subtle fluctuations to the surface. Personal records are thus transformed into images remembered more for their forms and gestures than for the specific identities of the individuals depicted. Through these interventions, the work quietly illuminates the dual nature of photography—its capacity to both construct and conceal meaning—as well as the fundamental human desire to see and be seen. This book reproduces the series with meticulous attention to materiality, allowing the reader to experience the tactile tension that arises between the paint and the silver gelatin print.

1980年代、中国南部の小さな町で育ったジン・ティエンことジェイ・ティー(JT)は、一人っ子政策が厳格に実施されていた当時、経済的困難を理由に新生児の女児が遺棄されるという痛ましい現実を目の当たりにした。2014年、旅先で出会った「留守児童（留守番を強いられる子どもたち）」の強さと生命力に深く心を動かされた彼は、幼少期の記憶に残るあの女児のその後を思わずにはいられなかった。この体験をきっかけに、JTは「Wild Grass」プロジェクトを始動し、全国各地の非公式孤児院で暮らす子どもたちの日常を記録した。現地で見たのは、資金不足や、身体的・精神的障がいのある子どもへの専門的ケアの欠如といった厳しい状況だった。それでも彼は子どもたちと共に生活し、彼らの姿を丁寧に写し取ることで、その存在と声を社会に届けようとしている。

Growing up in a small town in southern China during the 1980s—a time when the one-child policy was strictly enforced—Jin Tian (known as JT) witnessed the heartbreaking reality of newborn girls being abandoned due to economic hardship. In 2014, deeply moved by the resilience and vitality of "left-behind children" he encountered during his travels, he found himself wondering about the fate of the baby girl from his childhood memories. This experience inspired JT to launch the "Wild Grass" project, through which he documented the daily lives of children living in informal orphanages across the country. He witnessed harsh conditions, including a lack of funding and a shortage of specialized care for children with physical and mental disabilities. Nevertheless, by living alongside these children and carefully capturing their images, he strives to bring their existence and voices to the attention of society.

チャーリー・ヘイの『No One Left to Blame』は、親しい友人の自死をきっかけに、十年以上にわたり彼自身が向き合い続けてきた「なぜ？」という問いを探究する作品。本作はメンタルヘルス、自殺に対する社会の態度、そしてしばしば見過ごされる沈黙の救難信号といったテーマを深く掘り下げている。ヘイは世界各地の自死現場となった風景や場所を撮影し、それらを悲劇の象徴としてではなく、孤独と問いを内包する場として捉え直している。一見すると日常的なこれらの場所に潜む深い感情に焦点を当てることで、メンタルヘルスをめぐる語りを再考させ、こうした問題について率直に語ることを妨げる根深い偏見に挑むことを試みている。

Charlie Hay’s *No One Left to Blame* is a work that explores the question "Why?"—a question he has grappled with for over a decade following the suicide of a close friend. The project delves deeply into themes such as mental health, societal attitudes toward suicide, and the silent cries for help that often go unnoticed. Hay photographs the landscapes and locations where suicides have occurred, reframing them not merely as symbols of tragedy, but as spaces that embody solitude and the search for answers. By focusing on the profound emotions lurking within these seemingly ordinary places, he seeks to prompt a reconsideration of the discourse surrounding mental health and to challenge the deep-seated stigmas that hinder open conversation about these issues.

中国で「四人組」失脚と改革開放から5、6年が過ぎた1982年、互いに会ったことのない二人の文通相手が、一冊の写真雑誌をきっかけに繋がった。大学教授の許雷と、国境地帯で芸術活動に従事していた軍人の何博は、それぞれの生活環境の中で当時まだ新しかった「セルフポートレート」の技法に熱心に取り組んでいた。その後彼らは自撮り写真を交換し、手紙を通じてその実践や経験について率直に語り合うようになる。2016年8月から12月にかけて、写真史と文化の熱心な探究者である両人は、1970代から80年代の集合写真を再演し、元の写真に写る人物の顔を自らの顔に粗雑に重ね合わせた。こうして作られた偽造写真や文章は、その後数年間の展示でアーカイブ文書のような形式で示され、多くの矛盾や意図的な史実の捏造が痕跡として残されている。本プロジェクトを通じ、彼らは物語化の過程における写真と言葉の共謀性、そして古い写真や手紙が持つ「証拠」としての視覚的なオーラと「真実の歴史」との繊細な関係へと観客の注意を向けようとしている。

In 1982—five or six years after the fall of the "Gang of Four" and the onset of China's Reform and Opening-up—two pen pals who had never met connected through a shared interest in a photography magazine. Xu Lei, a university professor, and He Bo, a soldier engaged in artistic activities in a border region, were both passionately experimenting with the then-novel technique of "self-portraiture" within their respective environments. They began exchanging self-portraits and engaging in candid correspondence about their practices and experiences. Between August and December 2016, these two avid explorers of photographic history and culture re-enacted group photographs from the 1970s and 1980s, crudely superimposing their own faces over those of the original subjects. The resulting fabricated photographs and accompanying texts were subsequently exhibited in a format resembling archival documentation, preserving traces of numerous contradictions and intentional historical fabrications. Through this project, the artists aim to draw the viewer's attention to the complicity between image and text in the process of storytelling, as well as the delicate relationship between "true history" and the visual aura of "evidence" possessed by old photographs and letters.

蔡東東は各地で収集した約60万点の写真アーカイブを被写体の衣装や化粧、写真の裏面に残された文字情報を手がかりに、中国人民共和国成立「以前」と「以後」の二つの歴史的時期に分類した。そのうえで各時期から年齢、顔立ち、姿勢のよく似た人物写真を選び出し、一対として組み合わせている。右ページには 1912 年から 1949 年までの中華民国期の写真を、左ページには1949年から1978年、すなわち中華人民共和国成立から改革開放に至るまでの写真を配置している。右開き、左開きどちらからも展開可能な造本設計。

Cai Dongdong categorized an archive of approximately 600,000 photographs—collected from various locations—into two historical periods: the eras "before" and "after" the founding of the People's Republic of China. He based this classification on clues such as the subjects' clothing and makeup, as well as handwritten notes found on the backs of the prints. From each period, he selected pairs of portraits featuring individuals who closely resembled one another in age, facial features, and posture. The right-hand pages display photographs from the Republic of China era (1912–1949), while the left-hand pages feature images from the period spanning 1949 to 1978—extending from the founding of the People's Republic of China to the onset of the Reform and Opening-up policy. The book’s design allows it to be opened and viewed from either the right or the left.

『Cent Titres』は、フランスで感染対策のための物理的距離がまだ義務づけられていた 2021年2月から4月の間に制作された。趙端は99名の参加者を一人ずつアトリエに招き、最後の100人目として自らも参加した。彼女は参加者と向き合って座り、その手を握りながら、彼らの肖像をその掌に描いた。それから参加者は手の平をプレキシガラスに押し当て、描かれた肖像を転写した。本プロジェクトは一連のパフォーマンス、三面映像、そしてプレキシガラスに残された100点の油彩作品で構成されている。口も肩もなく、穴の開いたこれらの肖像は、幽霊のように漂う存在感を帯び、匿名性と個の実在感のあいだを揺らいでいる。本作では人と人との近い身体的接触が本来もつ価値を想起させることを目的としている。

*Cent Titres* was created between February and April 2021, a period when physical distancing measures to curb infection were still mandatory in France. Zhao Duan invited 99 participants to her studio one by one, finally participating herself as the 100th person. Sitting face-to-face with each participant and holding their hand, she painted their portrait directly onto their palm. The participants then pressed their palms against a sheet of Plexiglass, transferring the painted image. The project comprises a series of performances, a three-channel video installation, and the 100 oil paintings left on the Plexiglass. Devoid of mouths or shoulders and featuring open voids, these portraits possess a ghostly, drifting presence, hovering between anonymity and individual reality. The work aims to evoke the intrinsic value of close physical contact between people.

「Girls」から「Youth」へと至る流れの中で、羅洋は日常で出会う若者たち――思春期を過ぎたティーンエイジャーから若い大人まで――を撮り続け、世代を越えて受け継がれる「若さの物語」を紡いでいる。彼女の作品に映し出されるのは、期待や固定観念から自由になろうとする新しい中国の若者文化であり、その姿からは被写体それぞれの個性と存在感が鮮明に立ち上がる。本作は女性性、ジェンダー、アイデンティティをめぐる個人的な探求であると同時に、社会の中で進行し続ける深い変化を静かに映し出している。

In the progression from *Girls* to *Youth*, Luo Yang has continuously photographed young people encountered in everyday life—ranging from post-pubescent teenagers to young adults—weaving a "story of youth" that transcends generations. Her work captures a new youth culture in China striving to break free from expectations and stereotypes, vividly revealing the distinct individuality and presence of each subject. This body of work serves as both a personal exploration of femininity, gender, and identity and a quiet reflection of the profound changes unfolding within society.

劉思麟は自らを媒介とし、歴史、文化、政治、アイデンティティの境界を横断する架空の人物「Celine Liu」を創造した。しかし劉は、Celine Liuは実体をもたない存在であり「誰でもあり得るし、誰でもない」と語る。作家自身が身体を用いて現実と虚構、日常と儀式性、私的領域と公共性、個人と普遍性の境界を押し広げ、Celine Liuというキャラクターをインターネット上の仮想空間で循環させ、「消費」される存在として機能させている。劉思麟は自身が構築したイメージを通して、大衆メディア環境やデジタル社会によって形作られてきた「イメージ崇拝」という伝統的な社会規範を考察し、それを再解釈しようと試みている。

Liu Silin has created a fictional persona, "Celine Liu," who acts as a medium to traverse the boundaries of history, culture, politics, and identity. Yet, Liu describes Celine Liu as an entity lacking physical substance—someone who "could be anyone, yet is no one." By using her own body to push the boundaries between reality and fiction, the everyday and the ritualistic, the private and the public, and the individual and the universal, the artist circulates the character of Celine Liu within the virtual space of the internet, allowing her to function as an entity to be "consumed." Through the image she has constructed, Liu Silin examines and attempts to reinterpret the traditional social norm of "image worship"—a phenomenon shaped by mass media environments and digital society.

*1974* is a work where history, fiction, and Li Lang's own imagination intersect. Lang took old photographs collected from various locations and hand-inscribed them with dates based on a fictional timeline. These altered photographs are then presented alongside texts recounting personal memories from 1974. Consequently, the images and words transcend the role of mere historical records, transforming into an act of exploring the space between fiction and reality within the human mind.
