SUPER PHOTO MAGAZINE launched in September 1981 with Akira Suei as the chief editor. While inheriting the erotic + intellectual subculture established by its predecessor "Weekend Super", it was published as a new magazine centered on Nobuyoshi Araki. This magazine picked up all the pictures that spilled from the theory of photography, Nobuyoshi Araki, Daido Moriyama, Seiji Kurata, Keizo Kitajima and others had published the work, but it as a magazine corresponding to obscenity and often called from the police. After that, it was discontinued in 1988.
