Peter Sutherland lived in New York from 1998 to 2020. While he has long been a street photographer, this book represents the culmination of his "Street Lords" series—a project in which he would approach people he encountered and photograph them on the spot. Captured here are intimate moments shared with the city and its subjects—moments he cherished over the course of more than two decades. Photographers working in this style have become a rare sight these days (or perhaps the reality is simply that such an approach has become difficult to sustain).
