Photographer Eiichiro Sakata was born in Tokyo in 1941. He joined Light Publicity after graduating from Nihon University College of Art, Department of Photography. He traveled to the United States in 1966 and studied under Richard Avedon (1923-2004). He made his debut in 1970 with his solo exhibition "Just Wait". He returned to Japan in 1971 and is active in commercials and magazines. He has won numerous awards, including the Arles Honorary Citizenship Award at the Arles International Photography Festival in 1993, and the Domon Ken Award and the Photographic Society of Japan Award for Writer in 2005. This book is an ambitious collection of works that combines portraits and natural landscapes. He won the Domon Ken Award the following year. A text by Kenji Maruyama is also included at the end of the book.
