A collection of photographs by French fashion photographer Guy Bourdin (1928-1991). Bourdin was born in Paris in 1928. In 1948-49 he served in the French Air Force at Dakar, Senegal for military service, where he received his first training in photography. After retiring in 1950, he met Man Ray (1890-1976) in Paris and held an exhibition of his drawings and paintings at the gallery. His career as a fashion photographer began with an appearance in the February 1955 issue of French Vogue. He continued to publish his work in the magazine until 1987. His name became widely known in 1985 when he was awarded the Grand Prix of Photography by the French Ministry of Culture and Communications. Although often compared to the style of Helmut Newton (1920-2004), his unique narrative is highly regarded for expanding the realm of his traditional advertising photography. François Nars, the founder of NARS and a make-up artist, said that Bourdin's photographs had a great influence on him. This book is a collection of photographs published after his death. It is attractive that it is composed of unpublished works in addition to work and advertising photos for magazines such as VOGUE. Edited by Charlotte Cotton, who is well versed in contemporary photography.
