A collection of photographs of Eikoh Hosoe produced as a pamphlet for the first recital of Tatsumi Hijikata, the founder of Ankoku Butoh and a standard-bearer of Japan's leading avant-garde theater. The recital was held on July 23rd and 24th, 1960, at Dai-ichi Seimei Hall, and 12 works were performed, including works based on novels by Jean Genet and poems by Lautreamond. . In addition to Mr. Hosoe's photographs expressed through bodily expression, the text includes Hijikata's writings titled "Materials inside" and "Materials," as well as articles contributed by Yukio Mishima. A first-class document that records an epoch-making moment in the history of Japanese Butoh.
