Shoji Ueda and Yoichi Midorikawa are two of the greatest amateur photographers in the history of Japanese photography. If the former was fascinated by the sand dunes of Tottori, the latter, Midorikawa, continued to take photographs while running a dental clinic with the Seto Inland Sea as his lifelong field. This book is a representative collection of his works. Having visited Naoshima in Kagawa Prefecture, Naruto in Tokushima Prefecture, Akashi Kaikyo, and Inujima in Okayama Prefecture for nearly 30 years, he captures the rich variations of the day and night in Setouchi with his skillful techniques. I can only say that it is wonderful. At the end of the book, Midorikawa's own commentary on each photo is also worth reading.
