The book by Parviz Tanavoli, an Iranian ethnic researcher, folk art collector, and member of the Iranian avant-garde artist group Saqqa-Khaneh, which was founded in the 1960s, focuses on hand-woven textiles by Iranian tribesmen. This is a collection of materials about the bags I made. These practical bags are imbued with folklore stories and myths, giving each maker a unique expression. In addition, bags were mainly woven by women and used by shepherds to carry salt for their livestock while grazing. They not only reflect the material culture of the tribes of the Iranian plateau, but also demonstrate the deep social importance that salt has had since prehistoric times. The concept of salt, like bread, pervades Iranian culture throughout history and today through many proverbs, proverbs, rituals, and social interactions.
