Swiss architect and urban planner Hannes Meyer (1889-1954) is considered one of the most important representatives of the New Building movement. Trained as a bricklayer and draftsman, he continued his education at the Berlin School of Arts and Crafts, the Agricultural Academy and the Technical University, and worked as an architect in Munich and Essen before opening his own architectural firm in Basel in 1919. He was appointed head of the architecture department in 1927 and became director of the Bauhaus Dessau in 1928, succeeding Walter Gropius. This book contains reprints of documents on architecture published by Meyer during his lifetime. The documents are divided into eight volumes and the designs are stored in special folders.
