This photobook was produced by digital artist Pascal Dangin during his time working on his personal label Steidl Dangin for German publisher Steidl. This book is a visual tale of two very different cities: Paris and Los Angeles. In the early 1970s, Adam Bartos began documenting the contemporary cityscape with color photography, imbuing his work with a serene stillness and finding compositions even in the most accidental moments. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, he traveled to Los Angeles and Paris, two trips that had a strong and profound impact on his vision. Here, walking through almost deserted hotel rooms, backyards, gas stations and streetscapes, we notice the graphic relationship and the strikingly similar colors of the two cities. Although the photographs are from different times and places, the combinations and editorials allow for a strangely natural journey into the world of the photobook.
