Jean-Luc Godard (1930-2022), known for controversial works such as "Pierrot le Fou" and "Hail Mary" (1991), is widely regarded as one of the world's most influential film directors. However, despite having been creating images for television in Europe for nearly 20 years, his video work was little known in the United States. This book is a catalogue published in 1992 to coincide with a retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and provides a comprehensive introduction to Godard's work from 1974, when he first incorporated video technology into his work, to 1991, when he wrote and directed "Germany year 90 nine zero".
