This collection of writings by a group (?) called "Wakakusa-kai" was published in 1946, shortly after the end of the war. The group consisted of 13 members at the time, mostly from the Kansai region, including Kyoto and Osaka. It is believed to have been founded in 1932, but it's unclear how long they continued their activities. The book's main content is a memorial to one of its members, Misawa Tametoshi, who died in the Pacific War. It includes individual recollections and Misawa's posthumous writings, interspersed with photographs. Since most of the text is handwritten, it's likely that the book was circulated among the members. At a time when young people were being drafted into war, how did the members themselves, having survived the ravages of war, feel about the deaths of their friends? It offers a vague glimpse into the feelings of those who lived through that war. Though it was self-published, it could be called an exceptionally well-crafted art book.
