``Eels Pie and Mash House'' was an eel pie and mashed potato shop that was born in East London around the 19th century and was a popular dining place for mainly working-class Londoners. Photographer Chris Crann spent five years from 1990 researching this traditional shop and photographing the representative shop that could be called his ancestor and the people who gather there. There were apparently around 150 eel pie and mash houses in the 1940s, but as the demand for eel declined, the number of shops gradually decreased, and now there are very few such shops. It is said. This is a valuable photo collection in every sense of the word, including photos of people working at the store and people visiting the store. It is also the first collection of works by Chris Crane, who is said to be an orphan.
