A collection of photographs by French fashion photographer Guy Bourdin (1928-1991). Bourdin was born in Paris in 1928. In 1948-49 he joined the French Air Force in Dakar, Senegal for military service, where he received his first training in photography. After retiring in 1950, he met Man Ray (1890-1976) in Paris and held an exhibition of his drawings and paintings at the gallery. His career as a fashion photographer began with an appearance in the February 1955 issue of French Vogue. He continued to publish his works in the same magazine until 1987. His name became widely known in 1985 when he was awarded the Grand Prix of Photography by the French Ministry of Culture and Communications. Although often compared to the style of Helmut Newton (1920-2004), his unique narrative is highly regarded for expanding the realm of conventional advertising photography. NARS founder and make-up artist François Nars also said that Bourdin's photography had a big influence on him. This book is the first photo book published ten years after his death. It is also the one that triggered the "Bourdin resurgence". Edited by his son Samuel, it contains a number of works that allow us to look back on his career so far.
