This book celebrates obscure places where natural beauty can still be found. Robert Adams first visited these places as a boy. Now in his fifties (at the time of publication), he returns to them with the affection of long-time acquaintances. Here, the sunlight shines on the fields, hills and roads, recording the photographer's quiet walks. The photographs are accompanied by twelve poems by William Stafford. The landscape format, with three or five portrait photographs arranged side by side, creates a rhythmic continuity of time, making the reader feel as if they are re-experiencing the idyllic walks through the camera's eye.
