Soho, described by Robert Louis Stevenson as "a nightmare corner of the city" in "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," may have a slightly different atmosphere from the Soho that Anders Petersen actually visited in 2011 as a residency invited by the Photographers' Gallery (but it seems to have inherited some of the same atmosphere). He immersed himself in the life of this part of London for a month, documenting the streets, pubs, cafes, and homes of the residents. Both the city and the people are fascinating, forming a very unique settlement.
