This photobook by Makoto Oono comes approximately 10 years after his previous work, "
SEPARATE HIDDEN RULES." The title, "Karyolysis," refers to the biological process of nuclear lysis, in which the cell nucleus dissolves and eventually disappears into obscurity. While continuing his previous style of improvisational setup photography, this book also incorporates spontaneous encounters from his travels around the world, creating an unsettling frozen state on a single sheet of paper where staging and unstaging, living and non-living, heterogeneous and homogeneous, cosmopolitan. It is a perspective befitting a photographer exploring the possibilities of photography.
