The long-awaited new edition of Shomei Tomatsu's (1930-2012) photo book "
The Pencil of the Sun", which was published as a separate issue of the camera magazine "Camera Mainichi" in 1975. Although it is a two-volume book, "The Pencil of the Sun 1975" is published in a new format without changing the original structure and order, while "Pencil of the Sun 2015" is a carefully selected selection of works published and unpublished since "Pencil of the Sun," with essays by Shunji Ito and Ryuta Imafuku. Over the years, what Tomatsu left behind has been updated again with new editorial intentions and perspectives, as well as advances in printing technology.
