This is an original print from photographer Tokuko Ushioda's representative "Refrigerator" series. Many Japanese people are said to have a strong sense of personal connection to the homes and rooms in which they live, and the refrigerator, in the sense of being a room within a room, can be said to be a very private space that is not often made public. This excellent series reveals the individuality of each household from a single photograph, showing what kind of food they like, what kind of meals they eat, and how many people are in their family.
