Toshitsugu Yamawaki (1956–2016) was born in Tokyo. He was self-taught in various disciplines—including oil painting, drawing, design, and photography—and pursued his creative work in cities such as Paris, New York, Los Angeles, and Sydney. After working for a publishing company, he established his own studio, "studio a la page," and also worked as an art director. Upon entering his fifties, he dedicated himself fully to his artistic practice, beginning to present photographic works as one form of expression within a broader artistic scope. In 2011, he published his first photobook, *Dimension of Vision*, which photography critic Kotaro Iizawa described as possessing "an educated quality." This volume is Yamawaki¡Çs second photobook and marks the beginning of an all-handmade series—essentially a private edition. Composed primarily of black-and-white photographs, the book features a single-image layout per page. It possesses a unique texture achieved by using an older printing press—long since discontinued—that was acquired from a regional location. An intriguing feature is that the photograph on the right-hand page is visible through the paper from the reverse side. While the book is fundamentally a collection of fragments of reality captured by the camera, it exerts a captivating allure, drawing the viewer into a solitary journey through a world of imagery. The journey concludes with a verse by the free-verse haiku poet Santoka Taneda (1882–1940).
