This is the program and catalogue for "Tokyo International Collection '85 Part 1," held from November 21 to 24, 1984, to commemorate the completion of the Asahi Shimbun Memorial Hall in the Yurakucho Center Building. The event was held at the Yurakucho Asahi Hall in the same building. Shows by fashion designers representing the 1980s were held, starting with Rei Kawakubo's Comme des Garcons on the first day, followed by Jean-Paul Gaultier and Katharine Hamnett, and on the final day by Yohji Yamamoto. In addition to profiles of each designer, the book includes looks from the past. This book was formerly owned by curator Takayo Iida, and is signed by Kawakubo and inscribed by the other three (there is a dedication signature on the inside cover, but the author is unable to identify them). The book was written just after the Council of Tokyo Fashion Designers (CFD) was founded, coinciding with the first Tokyo Collection. It is also a valuable resource for learning about the height of the DC brand boom.
