Photographer Ikko Narahara (1931-2020) bought a camera for the first time in 1954, began shooting Hashima (Gunkanjima) in Nagasaki Prefecture, and later announced these series as "
Human Land". Around this time, he was releasing the shutter while walking in the streets of Tokyo in the 1950s, taking a break from shooting "Human Land". About 40 years later, in the 1990s, Mr. Narahara made contact prints again from the negatives that had been forgotten in the negative case and baked them with an enlarger. This book is composed of photographs taken in places known to anyone living in Tokyo, such as Ginza, Shibuya, Kichijoji, Tsukiji, and Aoyama. His aesthetic sense cuts out the appearance of Tokyo, which is being reconstructed after the war, such as the Tokyo Tower under construction and the dirt streets.
